What you practise
- Matching the verb to the person (I, you, we and so on)
- Regular and irregular verbs
- Telling this tense apart from the others

du … (trinken, to drink): which is the future tense?
- wird trinken
- werde trinken
- werdet trinken
- werden trinken
- wirst trinken

Answer: E, wirst trinken
The method: With ‘du’ (you (one person)), the future tense of ‘trinken’ is ‘wirst trinken’.

- A, wird trinken: ‘wird trinken’ goes with ‘er / sie / es’, not ‘du’.
- B, werde trinken: ‘werde trinken’ goes with ‘ich’, not ‘du’.
- C, werdet trinken: ‘werdet trinken’ goes with ‘ihr’, not ‘du’.
- D, werden trinken: ‘werden trinken’ goes with ‘wir’, not ‘du’.

Show the answer and method
Answer: D, wird können
The method: With ‘er / sie / es’ (he or she), the future tense of ‘können’ is ‘wird können’.
Why the other options are wrong:
- A, werden können: ‘werden können’ goes with ‘sie / Sie’, not ‘er / sie / es’.
- B, kann: ‘kann’ is the present tense, not the future tense.
- C, werdet können: ‘werdet können’ goes with ‘ihr’, not ‘er / sie / es’.
- E, werde können: ‘werde können’ goes with ‘ich’, not ‘er / sie / es’.
