Sample question, level 2 of 5

  1. fera
  2. ferez
  3. ferons
  4. feras
  5. ferai
Show the answer and method

Answer: E, ferai

The method: With ‘je (j’)’ (I), the future tense of ‘faire’ is ‘ferai’.

Why the other options are wrong:

  • A, fera: ‘fera’ goes with ‘il / elle’, not ‘je (j’)’.
  • B, ferez: ‘ferez’ goes with ‘vous’, not ‘je (j’)’.
  • C, ferons: ‘ferons’ goes with ‘nous’, not ‘je (j’)’.
  • D, feras: ‘feras’ goes with ‘tu’, not ‘je (j’)’.

Sample question, level 4 of 5

nous … (sortir, to go out): which is the future tense?

  1. sortirez
  2. sortirons
  3. sortirai
  4. sommes sorti(e)s
  5. sortons
Show the answer and method

Answer: B, sortirons

The method: With ‘nous’ (we), the future tense of ‘sortir’ is ‘sortirons’. Sortir takes être in the perfect tense.

Why the other options are wrong:

  • A, sortirez: ‘sortirez’ goes with ‘vous’, not ‘nous’.
  • C, sortirai: ‘sortirai’ goes with ‘je (j’)’, not ‘nous’.
  • D, sommes sorti(e)s: ‘sommes sorti(e)s’ is the past tense, not the future tense.
  • E, sortons: ‘sortons’ is the present tense, not the future tense.
